Today’s daily prompt is:

Tell us about the last book you read (Why did you choose it? Would you recommend it?). To go further, write a post based on its subject matter.

Che Guevara Smoking a CigarThe last book I read was Reminiscences of the Cuban Revolutionary War, by Che Guevara.  One of my friends recently bought me a Che shirt, so I was prompted to read a little bit more about him.  She really strongly associates me with Che…  Anyways, I went looking through the library for books about Che, and came across something he had written himself, and decided that it would be the most interesting.  It’s pretty good.  I find Che fascinating.  I first got into him after watching the biopic Che with Benicio del Toro.  Although, that could just be associative good feelings, since I spent the entirety of the four hours cuddling up against a beautiful woman with my hand about an inch from her breasts due to the extremely cold movie theater.  Like, holy crap, I’ve never been in such a cold theater.

Anyways, back to Che.  Obviously, he has a lot of faults, probably the greatest of which was his desire to ignite the USA in nuclear fire, but despite that, I find him an intellectually attractive figure.  He had fervor, he had fire and passion and spark, and he did what he wanted to do.  He was persuaded to fight in another country’s revolution in a single night, and he fought with it all the way to the end, and then he went and fought in another revolution.  I don’t necessarily agree with his methods, but I admire his sincerity and his beliefs.

I want to be more “revolutionary” in my daily life.  It’d probably make for a good serialized article or little pop self-help book, to be honest, but I’m trying to be more–I guess I would call it–pure.  I’m trying to be more honest and straight-forward.  I’m trying to reject “awkwardness” and “fear” as reasons not to try things.  I’m trying, trying, to be more moral.  I’m trying to be more positive and helpful.  And I’m trying to really improve at the things I love, like writing and cooking.  Maybe one of these days I’ll start a little post series about it, but for now, I’m trying to be a better person.
